SmartyKat Skitter Critters are a cheap option to keep your cats entertained while you’re away… but are they any good? Let’s find out!
I have been getting Skitter Critters for a few years now…why you might ask? They disappear faster than socks in the dryer… I don’t know why but they just do. How many cats have I been getting them for…? Well, two one a regular basis, but for good reason!
Jezebel usually goes through 2-3 packs of these things a year…one part from losing them, one part from me getting tired of wiping her fur off of them. Hazel, our senior TacCat, usually goes through a pack every couple of months…she was an outdoor cat and she tends to tear them apart.
These things are fairly durable I would say for the price, but the catnip loses its appeal to the feline variety pretty fast, however, they still go at them frequently when they are left alone. I have noticed that they don’t like chasing after them if you throw them like they would a laser pointer…or in Jezebel’s case; a zip-tie. When I leave Jezebel alone for the day though, I typically find 2-4 of them randomly sprawled out across the room (she can’t be in the main part of the house due to our pupper) and never where I left them for her. In Hazel’s case, she will tear off the tails typically and leave them on her bed to say “Hey…I need a refresher pack please.”
Now, there is one thing that you need to pay attention to if you haven’t purchased Skitter Critters before and that is the packaging anchor that keeps the little toys attached to the cardboard. Just make sure that you take them off to make sure that your cats or ferrets from eating it.
I have only seen ferrets play with them, but I haven't had any direct experience.
Overall, if you’re cat sitting, found a kitten you’re waiting to find a home for, or just brought your first TacCat home, you should go and pick a package of Skitter Critters up, be it you order them on Amazon or you pick them up on your way home from work at your local Wal-Mart.
Jezebel’s opinion: 3/4 paws and maybe a toe-bean…she hasn’t completely decided if they’re worthy of a toe-bean.
As always everyone, thanks for reading, and go have some fun with your favorite furballs!
