The System Is Failing, Let’s Be Honest.
Another day, another person putting the United States flag upside down. Per the U.S. Flag Code the flag of the United States can only be flown upside down”as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.”
I think we’ve reached that point as a nation. I think we reached that point before 9/11/2001, but I believe it reached it’s peak when the government signed into place the Patriot Act.
As times have continued, we have seen further encroachments made by the government to invade our personal spaces. The TAPS Act which has yet to pass, Red Flag Laws, and more all in recent history. We have seen the good citizens, the law abiding citizens getting their wrists slapped for the acts of those who aren’t good citizens, aren’t law abiding citizens, or aren’t even citizens at all. Hell, even diplomats get more leniency than citizens do via diplomatic immunity.
When the Founding Fathers formed this nation, they put into place certain checks and balances to ensure, as best they could, so that a centralized government wouldn’t have too much control. One of those checks and balances was separating the federal government into individual branches. Another was a court system that ruled over all of the United States that would determine whether or not a local government, or the federal government was stepping on inalienable rights.
Today and in the past we have systematically watched those checks and balances fail; even the one I haven’t mentioned yet. The Supreme Court ruled in the 1938 case of Murdock v. Pennsylvania, 319 U.S. 105 that “the state does not have the power to license or tax a right guaranteed to the people.”
Today what do we see? You have to pay a tax stamp to access certain Constitutional rights that are guaranteed to the people. You see licenses being required to exercise rights that are guaranteed to the people.
To reinforce that previous Supreme Court ruling, we have Shuttlesworth v. City of Birmingham, Alabama, 373 U.S. 262. The ruling, which came out in 1963, more or less stated that “if the State converts a right (liberty) into a privilege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right (liberty) with impunity.”
Just this year, we saw an individual who created an “illegal” silencer get in trouble and the Supreme Court refused to hear the case. Why? Because the President of the United States requested that they didn’t. Sadly, using previous rulings (if they would have) the gentleman would have been troublefree, and the National Firearms Act would be ignoreable.
To add insult to injury, if you outright own your property and house… what happens if you fail to pay annual property taxes? What happens if you refuse it?
We have a legislative branch that doesn’t know what laws already exist, as such they’re passing redundant bills and wasting the money of tax payers.
We have a legislative branch that doesn’t know what the bills they propose even say. (Ex: When the Affordable Care Act came to be, Nancy Pelosi stated: “We need to pass it to see what’s inside!”)
We have a legislative branch that has no concern about spending; after all, it’s far easier to spend someone else’s money on cocaine for monkeys.
We have a judicial system that goes unchecked.
We have a law enforcement system that almost entirely monitors itself.
We have a judicial system and law enforcement system that work together to incriminate citizens for victim-less “crimes”.
We have a legislative, judicial, and law enforcement system that work together to infringe upon multiple Constitutional Rights; especially in Red Flag States.
We have a Supreme Court that has been politicized.
We have a legislative system filled of whores who don’t care about their job, just the lobbying.
To make things even worse, we have government agencies making up legislation as they go, changing their interpretations on legislation, and making otherwise law abiding individuals felons overnight without any knowledge of it.
There is no integrity in the system any longer and the people no longer have any of their inalienable rights intact. To add onto it, nobody knows how the government works anymore, and you literally have federal committees dedicated to spending your money…with little to no representation. What was that about “no taxation without representation”?
The ultimate check and balance to this system was an inalienable right that existed beyond law and beyond man. That right was outlined in the 2nd Amendment. “The right to keep and bare arms shall not be infringed”… It’s been infringed upon and it’s a skeleton of what it once was. Most of us need permits to carry a firearm; no, the SCOTUS ruling mentioned earlier doesn’t matter.
Some of us can’t buy silencers at all.
Some of us can’t own short barreled rifles or shotguns because of our individual states.
Whether you wish to admit to it or not, our country is sick, and our country is plagued with divisive politics and politicians that are only out for themselves. Our country is in distress, people are dying, people are being wrongfully imprisoned and detained, and people are losing their property that they have owned for 30 years…for not paying annual taxes to the crown.
It’s not a matter of whose Republican and whose Democrat. It isn’t black versus white. It’s The People versus the tyrants. And right now…? The tyrants have us all in a makeshift gladiator dome waiting to release the lions to clean up the battlefield.
Both sides of the political spectrum believe this country is in turmoil. Both sides want to fly the flag upside down, both sides want to burn the flag.
The politicians are just doing an extremely good job at separating We The People and keeping us from figuring out our problems together.
United We Stand.
Divided We Fall.
