Before getting on with the article, I want to let you all know. Recently the original TacCat page become unviable for use. How much longer it will remain up is something I don’t know, so be sure to hit the Facebook button down at the bottom of the article, and give the new page a follow! It’s truly appreciated.

Something that the firearms community has been waiting for for a long time has been an aluminum or steel framed striker fired handgun that was somewhat affordable. Walther almost got it there with the PPQ Q5 SF, but missed the price mark by quite a margin (seriously, double the cost from a polymer frame to a steel frame)?
With the fall of the Hudson Hype 9, the aluminum Glock frames not doing well on the market, and more… Sig Sauer seems to be putting all other companies in their place…as odd as that sounds coming from me.

The AXG is the P320’s aluminum grip module and stylistically looks very similar to the P226 and it even has changeable grips! So, let’s go over what I know, so you know it too!

Initially Sig is only coming out with a custom variant called the “Scorpion”, priced at $1,100 they’ll make as many of them as they get orders for. Once those orders are fulfilled they should start churning out the standard models; all of which are supposed to be optics read with the mounting screws outside of the slide (the M17/18 mounts through the bottom which is a concern for many).

The MSRP for the standard P320 AXG is going to be $799, so I imagine street price for the AXG P320 will be around the $700 price mark, maybe $650 as the prices come down. I have it on good word too that the machining on these guns is impeccable as well; which is fantastic to hear.

  • Weight: 31.3 ounces
  • Overall Length: 7.4 inches
  • Height: 5.5 inches
  • Width: 1.3 inches
  • Barrel Length: 3.9 inches
  • Capacity: 17 rounds

I’m unsure if they’re going to be producing a compact model of this gun (since the slide on it is the same size as the M18 slide), if they’ll produce a model with a 4″+ barrel (as it, it’s proportioned like the Glock 19x/FN 509), or anything of that nature. I do know that the grip frame will be made available for purchase for $300 or less; needless to say it’s going to fly off the shelves.

Hopefully in due time we’ll see Sig Sauer come out with a true full size P320 AXG versus this M18 proportioned firearm (seriously, the longer grip, shorter slide sucks to carry appendix!).
